Hi Michael,
I’m a BT phone and unlimited broadband customer. I’ve already got Sky TV but recently heard about a tempting special offer on Sky broadband. Apparently, I can get unlimited home internet from Sky, half price for 12 months.
It sounds too good to be true. Is it?
Claire Thomas, Birmingham, via email on 30 January, 2012
Hi Claire,
You’ll be pleased to hear that it’s true what you heard. As part of Sky’s Winter Broadband Sale, there is 12 months of half price unlimited broadband up for grabs, for both existing and new customers taking calls, line rental and broadband from Sky (www.Sky.com).
So regardless of whether you are a Sky TV customer, you can save over £200 by switching your unlimited broadband, calls and line rental to Sky. The short guide below explains how the offer works and the savings you could make by switching to from BT (www.BT.com) to Sky broadband.
As an existing Sky TV customer, you can certainly enjoy some discount in the Sky Winter Broadband Sale. Right now, you could switch to Sky’s totally unlimited broadband and get it half price for 12 months, with no caps on usage whatsoever.
You’d also have inclusive evening and weekend calls to other UK landlines, as well as line rental that’s cheaper than with BT. It’s also worth noting that Ofcom recently found Sky typically gives its broadband users better customer service than BT, Virgin Media (www.Virginmedia.com) and TalkTalk (www.Talktalk.co.uk).

No. The half price broadband offer is open to new customers joining Sky with or without its television package. It’s also available to existing Sky TV subscribers, like you, Claire, who want to add home phone and internet to their service.
Join with Sky TV - New customers taking Sky TV as well as their half price broadband will get Sky Broadband Unlimited with a basic Sky television package and home phone with inclusive evening and weekend calls for £23.75 a month. After the first 12 months, the price would increase to £27.50 a month. Remember, you’d also be paying Sky’s line rental of £12.25 a month.
Join without Sky TV - New customers opting against Sky TV will get Sky Broadband Unlimited with calls for £5 a month. After the first 12 months, the price would go up to £10 a month. Again, you’d also need to pay Sky line rental of £12.25 a month.
As you’re already a Sky TV customer, Claire, you could potentially save over £200 when you switch your unlimited broadband, calls and line rental from BT to Sky.

Remember, these “headline” prices don’t include line rental. From Sky, this costs an extra £12.25 a month - but that’s cheaper than BT’s £14.60 and Virgin Media’s £13.90.
Yes. As part of its Winter Broadband Sale promotion, Sky (www.Sky.com) is offering 12 months of half price unlimited broadband for all new and existing customers taking calls, line rental and broadband right now. The offer ends 27 February, 2012.
